Financial Policy
It is our intention at Orthopedic Surgery Center to offer the best medical care to our patients. We understand that healthcare and healthcare insurance costs have risen dramatically over the years. Balancing the cost of quality care with the financial concerns of our patients is often difficult. However, we will endeavor to work with our patients so that they can receive the care they need without creating a financial burden.
We accept Visa, Mastercard and soon CareCredit. Click here for more information on CareCredit.
For patients with healthcare insurance: Please provide us with the most up to date insurance information you have available. If you have a co-pay due with office visits, the CO-PAY IS DUE AT THE TIME OF CHECK IN. Co-pays are with office visits only, regardless of the exact charges on that day's visit.
All charges will be filed with your insurance carrier. We will take assignment on your claim, which means that the insurance company will pay whatever benefits are due directly to this office. Any remainder due on your account will be billed to you in the form of a monthly statement.
In we participate with your insurance plan we will reduce your bill by the contracted amount (allowable); however co-pays, co-insurance and deductibles may still be payable by the patient.
If we do NOT participate with your insurance plan; we will follow the same procedure as above. However, please understand that we are not required to adjust your bill to the amount your carrier deems reasonable and necessary.
Medicaid Patients: Please present the most recent copy of your Medicaid coverage with EVERY office visit. Effective September 1, 2005, all medicaid patients must have a written referral from their Primary Care Physician (PCP) in order to be seen.
For patients without healthcare insurance: We want to work with our patients that have no insurance coverage so that they may receive the care they need. We have developed a sliding scale that provides discounts on our services depending on the Guarantor's household income. In order to receive the benefits of this discount, the patient will need to provide verification of income in the form of the prior year's Tax Return, or payroll check stub. All discounts need to be discussed PRIOR to services being rendered.
We are not always able to state exactly what the actual charges would be for a surgery. We will work together to provide a reasonable estimate for the charges of a particular procedure. By working with our Business Office you can determine the cost of the surgery in advance and make financial arrangement suitable to your needs.
